Acting and modelling are two fields that fascinate children around the world, with many dreaming of a career like Naomi Campbell or Denzel Washington. However, their interest in the world of modelling sometimes comes late. Dorian Bortoluzzi will be 22 in November 14, 2023, and he has developed a passion for art. Although he has a degree in computer science and is still teaching the same subject at a school, he is working hard on the side to enter the artistic world. He’d like to act in films and become a model. Get to know this motivated and resourceful young man!
Toombow Kids: Hello Dorian, how are you today? We’re happy to have you here! So tell us, what made you decide to pursue a career in acting and modelling?
Dorian: Well, I’m doing really well, thank you very much! Actually, it all started with my mother. I was 17 at the time. She wanted to get into photography and I was a bit of a model for her, so she took a lot of photos of me. One day I said to myself, “Why don’t I use these pictures for castings?” And besides, I was looking for a summer job. I did it for fun at first, just to see if I liked it, and I ended up loving it so much that it’s what I want to do now!
Toombow Kids: That’s great! What has been your best work experience so far?
Dorian: My best experiences have always been when there were several people working on the project! My favorite was the one I did with another beginner and a photographer. It was a series of photos for an American fraternity. The other actor and I had been told to “have fun,” so we started pretending, except that we ended up having a lot of fun talking nonsense and throwing things at each other. I didn’t feel like I was working, it was a blast!
Toombow Kids: As they say, when you love what you do, every day is a holiday! By the way, you’ve been discovered and taken under the wing of Ewing Power Production, a subsidiary of Mason Ewing Corp, which will support you in your artistic career. What does this mean to you?
Dorian: It means a lot to me. It’s a sign of confidence. It shows that they believe in me and I’ve never experienced that with any of the other companies I’ve worked with… So I trust them completely and I’m going to do my best!
Toombow Kids: Trust is often the key! Do you have any tips to share with other young artists about preparing for a casting?
Dorian: I’d say the trick is not to stress, to be natural. You shouldn’t have an attitude that you don’t normally have. If you’re yourself at a casting and fit the part they’re looking for, then you’ll get it! If not, then you’re not right for the part… You also have to dress appropriately for the casting and look good.
Toombow Kids: Thanks for the advice! If you could cast any famous actor or actress, who would you choose as your scene partner?
Dorian: I look up to Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, Jake Gyllenhaal and Penelope Cruz. I think they each have a strong acting style that really changes from one role to the next.
Toombow Kids: Big names! In the book “The Adventures of Eli Tilmann: The Mystery of Athon Forrester “, recently published on 25 September 2023, you appear in the story as a famous actor belonging to the Flaming Stars troupe. How does it feel to see yourself in a detective book for young people?
Dorian: I think it’s incredible to have the chance to appear in a book with a mysterious, fantastic world, which has investigations. What’s more, it’s aimed at teenagers and young adults, it’s a story that makes people dream, so I love it!
Toombow Kids: Thank you Dorian for telling us more about you! The Toombow train is warming up its smokestack to wish you good luck with all your projects. See you in the next issue!
