On Saturday, July 15, 2023, at a venue kept secret until the last moment and with a VIP guest list, the annual Design Care Gala, organized by the HollyRod Foundation, which was also celebrating its 25th anniversary, took place. It was an opportunity for Hollywood’s crème de la crème to come together in support of people suffering from Parkinson’s disease or autism. The event was also the first major event for French-Cameroonian-American stylist, producer, screenwriter and author Mason Ewing since he moved back to Los Angeles, accompanied by his team, including PR specialist Lawrence Phillips, as well as actors Baba Wild, Éric April and Zacharie Malek. Toombow Kids attended the event and explains why the evening marked the start of a new era for the blind prodigy and his holding company, the Mason Ewing Corporation.
It’s 6 p.m. in Los Angeles when the cars start arriving at a highly secure, remote location. One by one, the guests get out of their cars, while valets park them a short distance away. Among them were producers, actors, fashion designers, philanthropists and other high-profile personalities of the entertainment industry, united in the fight for the HollyRod Foundation. This foundation was created in 1997 by the celebrity couple Holly Robinson Peete, a well-known actress, producer and writer, and her husband Rodney Peete, a former NFL quarterback. The inspiration for the foundation was Holly Robinson Peete’s desire to help people suffering from Parkinson’s disease, like her father who was diagnosed at the age of 45. In addition, when their son Rodney Jr. was diagnosed with autism at the age of three, the couple decided to broaden the HollyRod Foundation’s mission to include advocacy for ethical treatment, inclusion and access to services and treatments for people with autism or Parkinson’s disease, to empower them to live the best life possible.
After numerous speeches by distinguished guests, who reaffirmed their support for the Foundation and presented the ways in which they had contributed, it was time to socialize ! Mason Ewing met and chatted with many celebrities. Among them were businesswoman and fashion designer Tina Knowles, mother of pop icon Beyoncé, top models Kimora Lee Simmons and her daughter Aoki Lee Simmons, successful film and television actresses such as Nicole Ari Parker and Raven-Symoné, stars of shows like Empire and That’s So Raven, as well as rapper King Combs, son of Puff Daddy, and many others.
What these American celebrities have in common is that they have all been invited by Mason Ewing to attend his next fashion show, called “Angel of Eternity,” his first in the United States. It will be a tribute to his late mother Marie Elong, model, fashion designer and couturier. Scheduled for February 5, 2024, this event will mark the designer’s definitive return to the U.S., having spent the last few years in France. It will be the occasion to present two collections: first, Mason Ewing Couture haute couture dresses, and second, Madison Color, the world’s first clothing brand with Braille lettering affixed to T-shirts, enabling blind and visually-impaired people to see the color and pattern on their clothes.
According to our special correspondent, it’s rumored that Mason Ewing has asked Aoki Lee Simmons to walk the runway for him and wear the centerpiece creation of his collection. Although we can’t yet confirm this information, we already have it on good authority that many stars have already said “yes” to Mason Ewing to attend on February 5, which already makes it an eagerly awaited and chic event. What’s more, we’ve learned that several sponsors have already agreed to support his fashion show, such as Stephen Groce, the San Diego businessman and politician at the helm of the Bragabilia Energy drink brand.
This visionary who came to America to develop his business and show the world his talent, opted for a chic style with mauve accents, from his matching shirt and bow tie to his beret, which did not escape the lenses of celebrity photographers, who took numerous snapshots of him. As a result, several photos of Mason Ewing were posted on the Getty Image website, which continues to be a key player in the field of high-end photography, thanks to its high-quality images and its solid reputation for meeting the needs of the most demanding professionals.
Deeply moved by the HollyRod Foundation’s mission, Mason Ewing, who himself suffers from blindness and diabetes, has decided to do everything in his power to work with Holly Robinson Peete and her husband Rodney Peete to organize a fashion show for the 2024 Design Care Gala. Until then, the seemingly unstoppable entrepreneur continues to pull out all the stops for his big event, so that he can be at the forefront of fashion trends next February.
