Isma Has Grown Up, but the Column Continues

For more than a year, young Isma has enjoyed reading books and sharing her recommendations with us. But time flies, and Isma has grown up! She is now in high school.

Thank you, Isma, for all your wonderful recommendations and for sharing your passion for reading with us.

As the Toombow Kids team previously announced, we are currently looking for a new young reader to take over the column.

While we wait to introduce the next voice of Advice from Isma , our literary adventures continue. And today, we’re introducing a book you’ll certainly want to add to your reading list.

Reytac: A History, A Book Worth Discovering

The book is titled Reytac: A History. Published by Ewing Publication, it is scheduled for release in the coming months.

I had the pleasure of getting an exclusive preview before its publication, and I have to admit: it left me with more questions than answers.

But I’ll let you read it and form your own opinion.

“What if a legend turned out to be real?”

A City Disappears, and a Researcher Sets Out to Find Answers

Reytac is a ghost town located in the California desert, once situated along the road leading to Palm Springs.

On April 9, 1861, the town was destroyed by a fire and disappeared. Today, it no longer appears on any map.

The book also explores the history of the Cahuilla people, a Native American community connected to this mysterious town, as well as the strange story of Gwendolyn Porter, a 10-year-old girl who disappeared at the same time as Reytac.

As the pages unfold, readers discover archaeological excavations, unanswered questions, and the reflections of a researcher determined to keep the past from fading into oblivion.

Combining historical investigation, adventure, and mystery, this book is ideal for history enthusiasts and anyone who believes the past still holds secrets waiting to be revealed.

It also raises important questions about how society treats its most vulnerable members.

With its historical themes and thought-provoking subjects, Reytac: A History is particularly suited to older readers, high school students, and curious minds fascinated by history.

Jeremia Peterson, A Man Driven by Passion

Jeremia Peterson was born on April 17, 1955, in Austin, Texas, into a loving family that encouraged him to dream big.

From an early age, he had just one ambition: to attend the prestigious University of Chicago.

He eventually fulfilled that dream, spending seven years specializing in his field at the university’s Oriental Institute.

He later settled in Los Angeles, where he met Liset, the woman who would become his wife and greatest supporter. Sadly, she has since passed away.

In his book, Peterson also shares his personal journey, from his birth and childhood memories to his family life, his love of reading, his growing curiosity about archaeology, and his fascination with the mysterious town of Reytac.

There is something truly fascinating about discovering how people lived in the past through an author’s personal experiences.

My Thoughts as a Reader

Reytac is undoubtedly a mysterious town.

Is it a legend or a reality?

Honestly, I don’t know.

But as a reader, I find myself thinking: Why not?

I understand why this town is beginning to fascinate so many people.

The author himself acknowledges that Reytac captured his imagination, and that fascination can be felt on every page.

When the book is published, I strongly encourage you to take the time to read it.

I have a feeling it will leave you just as intrigued as I was.

See You Soon!

Our magazine looks forward to introducing the next young reader who will take over Advice from Isma and continue sharing the stories and books that inspire you.

Until then, keep an eye out for the upcoming release of Reytac: A History.

Happy reading, everyone!
