Every mother will tell you that raising children is a wonderful thing, but it’s not always fun. Between the tantrums , the hassle of preparing meals and finding things to do with their toddlers, moms can sometimes find themselves a little helpless! That’s why today, a mom named Aimee is going to share her tips and tricks to make everyday life easier!

Toombow Kids : Hello Aimee, it’s great to have you with us! Can you tell us about yourself?

Aimee: Hi, nice to meet you too! Well, my name is Aimee Simon, I am 40 years old and I have 3 children: the first one, Aya, is 8 years old, the second one, Junior, is 6 years old, and the last one, Ahou, is only 8 months old. We live in Canada in Montreal.

Toombow Kids: Okay! How do you manage not to choose a favorite among your children?

Aimee: There is no effort to make. I love them all and each one has the right to his or her moment of glory during the day.

Toombow Kids: What activities do you recommend to keep the kids busy on the weekend?

Aimee: It depends. I think you really have to listen to what they want and also set aside time to do activities that bring everyone together as a family and others where you let the kids do solo activities. For example, my oldest plays music and I take my son to a drama club.

Toombow Kids: What’s the best way to calm your kids down when they have a tantrum?

Aimee: I let them think about their anger for a while. I don’t intervene. At the end, when they have calmed down, I ask them to tell me in words what made them angry. It works every time for me.

Toombow Kids: How do you organize your days?

Aimee: I follow a strict schedule. Once I drop my two older kids off at school, I stay home with my baby who needs a lot of attention. When she sleeps, I take the opportunity to prepare dinner. Then, very importantly, I also take time for myself by relaxing, listening to music, going on social media… When you’re a mom, it’s important to have time for yourself!

Toombow Kids: Do you have a tip for moms who want to buy their kids nice clothes on a budget?

Aimee: Buy out of season! By doing this, I found a lot of bargains! For example, I already found many clothes for $5 instead of $20!

Toombow Kids: What is the best advice you could give to a woman who is about to become a mother?

Aimee: I’d say, do not worry ! The most important thing to be a good mother is to love your child! And as each child is unique, there is no miracle recipe. Everything will be fine!

Toombow Kids: Thank you Aimee for sharing your experience. It will help many other mothers. See you soon on Toombow Kids!
