HAPPINESS FAMILY: WHEN AN OPEN HEART CHANGES A LIFE FOREVER

Today, Toombow Kids has decided to shine a light on something that is deeply important to us, a humanitarian initiative called Happiness Family, created by the SOS Madison International Foundation.

But before we tell you about this extraordinary initiative, let’s talk about a reality that far too many people prefer to ignore.

The Numbers We Cannot Ignore

Every year in the United States, approximately 20,000 young adults age out of the foster care system, meaning they reach adulthood and can suddenly find themselves without a family, housing, or a safety net.

In the years following their exit from the system:

1 in 5 will experience homelessness
1 in 4 will become involved with the justice system
1 in 3 young women will become pregnant within 12 to 18 months
— Only 3% will earn a college degree

These are not just statistics. They are human lives. Young adults who grew up dreaming of the same things as every other child, a family, a home, and someone they can call Mom or Dad.

On the other side of this equation are thousands of single mothers and women across the United States who dream of becoming mothers but may believe that their opportunity has passed them by. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, there are more than 15 million single-parent households in the United States, many of them led by women who have the love, space, and heart to welcome a young person into their lives, but who may never have considered that the person they were meant to love could already be 18 years old.

Happiness Family, A Bridge Between Two Hearts

This is exactly why SOS Madison International, the humanitarian foundation created in the name of Baby Madison, launched Happiness Family, based in Austin, Texas.

Happiness Family is not simply an organization. It is a movement. A bridge between young adults who have aged out of the foster care system and families, single parents, and especially Super Moms who are ready to open their homes and their hearts.

Because it is never too late to become a parent. And it is never too late for a young adult to find a family.

The founder of SOS Madison International, Mason Ewing, a man who personally understands what it means to feel alone in the world and to fight without anyone by your side, created this foundation with one simple but powerful belief:

No young person should have to face life on the streets alone when there are caring hearts ready to welcome them.

A Call to All Super Moms

Toombow Kids wants to send a message to every woman reading these words who has ever dreamed of becoming a mother but believed it was no longer possible.

You may not welcome a newborn. You may not welcome a toddler. But you could welcome a young adult who is 18, 19, or 20 years old, someone who may never have had a real bedroom of their own, someone who may never have had anyone prepare breakfast for them in the morning, or someone who may never have had a mom to call when life becomes difficult.

Because of a Super Mom, a young person could finally sleep safely in a warm bedroom instead of facing the dangers of the streets.

Because of a Super Mom, a young person could avoid homelessness, substance abuse, exploitation, and many of the dangers that life on the streets can bring.

Because of a Super Mom, a young adult can receive a second chance at life.

You could be that hero.

How to Get Involved

If you are a Super Mom ready to open your heart and your home, Happiness Family is waiting for you.

Not sure where to begin? That is exactly why Happiness Family exists, to guide you every step of the way and help connect you with a young adult who needs exactly what you have to offer.
