Athar Ahmed: From Vision Loss to the Frontiers of Technology

Thorbok Tech

This May, Toombow Kids traveled to Europe to meet a young entrepreneur whose journey is already inspiring people far beyond borders.

His name is Athar Ahmed.

At only 24 years old, this student in Economic and Management Preparatory Studies represents a new generation of international talent driven by resilience, innovation, and ambition.

A childhood changed at 14

Born in Sialkot, Pakistan, Athar Ahmed grew up in a loving and united family surrounded by his parents, brothers, and sisters. Until the age of 14, he lived a joyful childhood, running through the streets of his hometown like any other teenager.

Then one day, everything changed.

Doctors announced that Athar would progressively lose his eyesight.

A devastating moment. Yet instead of abandoning his dreams, he gradually transformed this challenge into strength and determination.

Rebuilding life in France

His family later moved to France, where he had to rebuild his life from scratch:
a new language, a new culture, a new way of living.

He learned French, attended specialized schools for blind students, and gradually developed independence. He trained mobility using a white cane and learned to read and write in braille through tactile sensitivity.

But beyond daily adaptation, Athar already carried another ambition: entrepreneurship.

First steps into entrepreneurship

At a young age, he began developing his own projects and launching small business initiatives. Later, he met a long-time friend who introduced him to a bold technological venture:

Thorbok Tech

A U.S.-based startup and subsidiary of Mason Ewing Corporation, Thorbok Tech is based in Austin, Texas, and is gaining attention for its deep-tech innovation and research initiatives.

The company is involved in:

  • artificial intelligence
  • cybersecurity systems
  • space technologies
  • luminous braille systems

Its work is published across international platforms such as Zenodo, OSF, SSRN, and GitHub, reinforcing its research-driven positioning.

International recognition and innovation

Thorbok Tech has also been highlighted in global competitions such as the HICOOL 2026 Global Entrepreneurship Competition, where several of its space and technology projects attracted attention.

Among the innovations that particularly inspired Athar are:

  • TB AI, the company’s future artificial intelligence system
  • Luminous braille technologies developed in collaboration with Madison Color

Becoming part of the vision

Inspired by this ecosystem, Athar Ahmed decided to invest personally in Thorbok Tech by becoming a shareholder, before later joining the company’s Board of Directors following discussions with president Mason Ewing.

Today, he continues his studies while actively contributing to the development of Thorbok Tech. Curious and highly motivated, he regularly attends training sessions to better understand the various subsidiaries of Mason Ewing Corporation and grow within its expanding technological ecosystem.

A philosophy grounded in family values

Beyond innovation, patents, and international ambition, Athar remains deeply connected to his family values.

As he often says:

“In my culture, since childhood, we are taught one thing: our parents are the ones who raise us. When we grow up, it is important to remember them.”

A story still in its beginning

For Athar Ahmed, success only matters when it is built with humility, hard work, and long-term vision.

And at only 24 years old, one thing already seems certain:

his story is only just beginning.
