Coal Plague: Eli Tilmann Is Up to No Good

Candy, witches, and three boys who are up to something. Your favorite strawberry has been investigating, and she’s in for quite a few scares.

October: The Month Jonathanland Changes Its Face

My dear strawberries, October is a very special month. Halloween is approaching, and I was far too curious to simply sit on my broomstick and do nothing. I wanted to find out what was going on inside the homes of our fellow residents.

For us Jonathanlanders, Jonathanland is the most beautiful city in the world, especially when it is decorated and parents love telling scary stories to their children. Pumpkins in the windows, spiderwebs on the balconies, and laughter echoing through the streets: the city dresses up for Halloween, too.

At Lily Smooth’s Shop, Everyone Is Stocking Up on Frights

Our confectioner, Lily Smooth, can barely keep up with the crowds at her shop. Parents and children are rushing in to buy big surprise bags filled with candy, drinks, and those famous Madala Magic lollipops with their exquisite flavors.

Whenever I see pink lollipops, I immediately think of my strawberry sisters. Then I think of myself, the beautiful Tagada strawberry that nobody should ever want to take a bite out of. Yes, I know what you’re thinking: I look absolutely delicious. Fortunately, I was hiding very well.

Who’s Walking Into the Shop?

That’s when I saw them walk in: Lily’s little sweet-tooths. Young Eli Tilmann, accompanied by his little brother, Conrad.

Eli bought several bottles of Coal Plague, a witch’s drink created by Lily Smooth herself. Even Lily was surprised, because Eli usually swears by nothing but Cocoum Valoum. She asked him why he had changed his mind.

Do you know what Eli told her? Something very strange indeed:

“Lily Smooth, thanks to your Coal Plague, I’m going to attract the witches of Jonathanland with my two friends, Logan and Johnny. With our Halloween costumes, no one will be able to recognize us.”

The Mystery of the Costumes

Perched on my magic broomstick, I asked myself a thousand questions. What was Eli Tilmann planning with his friends Logan Lost and Johnny Glanderwood? Why all the secrecy surrounding their costumes? And was I, poor Tagada the strawberry, in danger? Would I end up in the belly of a child in disguise?

One thing is certain: I have to solve this mystery. What costume will Eli wear so I can spot him? My fellow strawberries and I are going to investigate. I have absolutely no desire to end up like the witches of Salem, burned at the stake, or even in a dish full of whipped cream. Just thinking about it makes me hungry… I mean, scared!

See you soon, friends. I have a mystery to solve.
