Logan, 12 Years Old: The Silent Christmas Wish Behind an Orphanage Window

Toombow Kids

For this new Orphanage Spotlight, the journalists at Toombow Kids have chosen to tell Logan’s story. He is 12 years old.

Logan could be any child. He could live here, or on the other side of the world. In a wealthy country or a poor one. His story is universal—yet far too often ignored.

Every day, Logan looks out at the world through the orphanage window. In winter, the glass is cold. As Christmas approaches, it also becomes a mirror of loneliness. On the other side, lights shine, families gather, laughter fills the air. On this side, a quiet child sometimes lets a tear fall.

The year is coming to an end. Christmas is near.

And like every year, Logan’s wish never changes.
He asks for neither toys nor gifts.
He simply asks to begin a new year with parents.
A mom.
A dad.
Adults full of love—able to guide him, protect him, and teach him to believe in himself—so that one day, he too can find his place in life.

Logan is not alone.

Hundreds of millions of children around the world live in orphanages. Many will never have the chance to know a family. At Christmas, some cry in silence. And when these children reach adulthood, reality is harsh: they leave the orphanage with a small bag, a few clothes, and a few coins in their pocket—the world, with no safety net.

Faced with this reality, Toombow Kids above all wishes to raise awareness.
To remind us of the importance of kindness.
To invite everyone to look beyond their own Christmas tree.

For those who do not yet have children, thinking about future adoption could be one of the most beautiful Christmas gestures of all. Offering a home, stability, a chance.
Because bringing a smile to an orphaned child’s face, drying their tears, and giving them a family—what could be a greater gift?

During this holiday season, Toombow Kids wishes to remind us that Christmas is not only a celebration, but also an act of the heart.

And for all the children who did not receive the gift they hoped for this year, we make a wish:
that the year ahead brings them the heavenly blessing they have been waiting for.

Happy holidays to all,
from the Toombow train.

Teddy Bear
Hey, listen up ! I'm a little teddy bear who lost his mother, so I was an orphan. But now I'm all grown up. I created this column especially for children who live in an orphanage. Don't give up, know that there is a solution for every problem. Somewhere in the stars, there is a small light that watches over you. So always keep hope, never give up, and remember that I, the teddy bear, am also here for you.
